Chocolate Banana Bread, this is a different take on banana Bread.

I also treated myself to a new laptop as an early Christmas present due the old laptop dying. So I have been getting used to that and trying to move all my information from one machine to the next. Still that is no excuse for neglecting you and I do apologise. However, if you follow me on Facebook or twitter, then I do occasionally share other recipes which come along from fellow bloggers which I think may be of interest to you. So this recipe this week is adapted from Brot, a German baking book which I picked up on my summer travels. My partner has always made the most yummy banana bread, so you can imagine that he was a bit unsure about mixing chocolate with banana. Still, I persuaded him as I had the bananas and chocolate to use up and it was worth it. We took it to a friend for tea who was feeling a bit poorly and it perked him up. Now to the recipe for Chocolate Banana Bread.

So, a nice super easy very tasty treat to make these holidays, my Chocolate Banana Bread.

I hope you enjoyed the recipe and I will see you soon with more.

Cheers

Deon.

The most yummy banana bread ever!

  • Prep Time: 15 Minutes
  • Cook Time: 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 Hours
  • Total Time: -25979041.4333 minute
  • Yield: 12 Slices 1x
Scale

Ingredients

  • 400 g plain flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 125 g vegetable oil
  • 225 g demerara sugar
  • 350 g ripe bananas mashed (approximately 4)
  • 125 g dark chocolate grated
  • 225 ml milk

Equipment:

  • 1 standard 2 pound bread tin

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease your tin, I used cake release spray.
  2. Sieve the baking powder and flour into a large bowl, then rub in the vegetable oil until you reach a consistency of breadcrumbs , add the sugar, the banana and the chocolate and give it a good stir.
  3. Slowly add the milk until you get a light batter. Depending on how ripe your bananas are, you might not need the full amount of milk, so add it in slowly.
  4. Pour the cake batter into the tin and level the top.
  5. Bake in the oven for one and a quarter or one and half hours until golden brown and set. Check if it is cooked by placing a skewer in the middle and it comes out clean.
  6. If when baking it starts becoming to dark on the top, then cover with a bit of tinfoil.
  7. Let it cool in the tin and then remove and serve with a nice cup of tea.
